One Fine City – One Divine Day Out
From the wealth of medieval buildings in Norwich Seraphim, the upper-voice
ensemble dedicated to beautiful sounds in secret spaces has selected three
iconic places for its next Musical Pilgrimage. Combining their love of sharing
their music with bringing visitors to hidden historic gems, the nine singers and
their conductor, Vetta Wise, will treat the pilgrims – in the tiny shrine of St.
Julian, the spacious interior of St. Helen and the secluded beauty of St.
George & Tombland – to magical mini-concerts evoking the atmosphere of the
surrounding spaces. The wide spectrum of vocal pieces will include some
Hildegard of Bingen, Telemann, a new piece written to words of Julian if Norwich,
Kodaly, Mendelssohn, and settings of folk songs and spirituals. Explore each
spot with a knowledgeable guide at hand and meander gently through Norwich’s
own splendid cathedral and grounds. Your physical needs will also be met: as
well as mid-morning and home-baked tea-time refreshments, there will be a
delicious two-course lunch in the magnificent Birkbeck Hall, part of the Great
Audience reaction to our previous pilgrimage:
“loved the beautiful places …all hidden from us ‘mere mortals’ until the Seraphs
create their magic and invite us in!”
The date of this tailor-made tour is Sunday 17th September. Tickets, which
