Pakefield Singers present The Fortuna Project. The exuberance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana paired with the lively Argentinian Misa Criolla of Ariel Ramirez.

A massed choir, international soloists, percussion ensemble, two pianos and a children’s choir combined for a spectacular performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana presented by Lowestoft choir Pakefield Singers and conducted by Vetta Wise. Complementing this perfectly is the lively Argentinian folk mass, Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez.

As the tide retreats, if you stand quietly on the edge of the sea, have you stepped between worlds? When you walk on damp sand where the sea once flowed, do you feel a sense of connection?

This nebulous feeling inspired the theme of the exhibition. The title derives from an ancient term, ‘thin place’, that describes a thinning between worlds. In this exhibition, Jen Fox and Paeony Lewis respond to emotions felt at low tide, in a gallery overlooking the sea.

The two artists first met on the Norwich University of the Arts’ Fine Art MA. Jen is inspired by walking and will display jesmonite footprints, melting ice feet, and images. Paeony’s practice uses the materiality of cameraless photography. Silk ripple watergrams will hang from the ceiling, with abstract kelp lumen prints and chemigrams made from seaweed developer on the walls.

THIN PLACES is at Cromer Artspace on the prom, on the Norfolk coast (if parking, aim for the Runton Road long-stay car park on the cliff edge, and then walk down).

The Wind in the Willows

Burnt Coffee, a theatrical company based in East Anglia, are back on tour, offering an imaginative adaptation of WIND IN THE WILLOWS.

This Summer, they are encouraging families to delve into the world of Kenneth Grahame’s beloved riverbank. This classic begins with Mole and Rat, as they bask in the sun with a hamper of earthworm sandwiches. When the uninvited Toad of Toad Hall arrives, everything changes and adventure ensues!

Expect motorcar crashes, ugly prisoners and a battle with a gang of pirate weasels.

The stage will be booming with creativity and colour as our eight actors bring all these lovable creatures to life. You won’t want to miss it!

Following the success of our Launch Exhibition last year, we are thrilled to announce our Late Summer Exhibition, which opens on Friday 9 August.

A fabulous selection of paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture and furniture will be displayed in our beautiful threshing barn. Something to delight all the senses!

Knap – An exhibition of ceramic sculptures and drawings

A solo exhibition by Grace Adam of ceramic sculptures and large-scale drawings based on flints.

Ancient, durable and beautiful, humans have shaped and used flint for over 3 million years – knapped into tools, axes and engraving implements.

Moving between naturalistic and abstract, the artist explores the synergies between the facets that appear during the knapping process and the compositions of cubist paintings.

Glazed and fired clay in blacks, whites, greys with traces of the delicate pinks and blues these ceramic sculptures reflect the colours that are revealed when the stones are cracked open.

East Anglia is famous for its flint, and large-scale charcoal drawings and watercolours explore some of its architecture and tools.

Halesworth Harmony is a friendly and supportive choir, welcoming all singers without an audition. There’s no need to be able to read music – songs are taught by ear and recordings are available for home practice. We perform locally at a range of community events and also organise our own concerts at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth and at other local venues, sometimes in collaboration with other choirs or musical groups.

We sing a varied mix of world music in three- or four-part harmony, and we are also fortunate to have worked with, and commissioned, contemporary British composers.

The choir meets approximately fortnightly on Sunday mornings (10.30-12.30) between September and June/July, usually at The Cut Arts Centre. There’s an interval to chat and make new friends.

We’re actively seeking more members to join us at the start of our new choir year to learn a new programme of songs. Rehearsal dates for the autumn term are: Sep 1st and 8th; Oct 6th and 20th; Nov 3rd, 17th and 24th; Dec 1st and 15th.

Little Seagull’s – Children’s Theatre Festival The Seagull Theatre is hosting a brand new Children’s Theatre Festival called Little Seagulls. The Festival will be held in Lowestoft, on The Royal Green, on Saturday 17th August 2024, 10am – 3pm.

This is the very first Children’s Theatre Festival in the town, and is a FREE to attend event.

It will be a day of performances, workshops, stalls and much more!

There will be a selection of acts, including –  – Punch and Judy – Flea Circus – Dot Collective – Riki Cycle – Captain Calamity – and many more.

Plus a wide variety of stalls and food vendors, such as face painting, coffee vans, ice cream trucks and a burger van!
