An Invitation to Lunch, Talk, Walk and Explore

Saturday 20th May

To start our season of creative, environmental and heritage walks, we invite W&BA members and their friends and families to join Simon and Judith Raven for Arts & Eats at their home in The Fen (IP19 9NF) just off the A1125 about halfway between Blythburgh and Westleton.  (Book tickets below – with lunch included.)

The Fen house

We will explore the garden and Simon’s objets d’art – think a kind of poor man’s Derek Jarman, or even Kettle’s Yard, and you’ll have an idea of what’s in store! We’ll have a light lunch, chat about what is or isn’t ART, learn about life at Fen Cottages in the mid 20th century and take a 30 minute walk along the sandy track towards Westwood Lodge to see the view that Arthur Young (late 18th century agriculturalist and writer) called ‘the finest view in all of England’.

Monolith sculpture in fieldArrive between 12 and 12.30pm. Parking on site. All in all the event will take about 2½ hours but come and go as you please. Light lunch provided. Suitable for adults and families – there is a trampoline, wendy house and space for ball games, table tennis and Molkky. Oh, and there’s Judith’s apiary which can be viewed!

This event is for W&BA members + friends only – please book in advance below. Cost: £6 per adult (to cover lunch and refreshments – any surplus goes to W&BA). Children are free.

The entrance is marked by a deer warning sign, rubbish bins, a five bar gate and a cattle grid. Cross the cattle grid into an open field, turn sharp right and follow the uneven sandy track down through heathland for 250 yards.
