Circle 67 presents The Two Gentlemen of Verona
“How Love can trifle with itself.”
Love tests loyalty when lifelong friends, Valentine and Proteus, both fall in love with Sylvia. But when her father, the Duke, determines she should marry the rich, but foolish Thurio, he banishes Valentine, leaving Proteus to woo Sylvia for himself. The stage is now set for a tale that involves high jinx, betrayal, a motley group of outlaws, a rope ladder, many letters and of course the hope of redemption.
Written sometime around 1590, The Two Gentlemen of Verona is considered to be Shakespeare’s first play for the stage and makes its Circle 67 debut on our Shorter Shakespeare Summer Tour.
We are touring from the 18th to 23rd July to some great local venues (please see our poster for details), so join us in your favourite castle, meadow or pub garden for one hour of entertainment packed with passion, fun, music and Crab the dog!
Entrance is free and we provide basic seating. If you enjoy the show, please give generously when the hat is passed round at the end.
