Halesworth Community Choir is an ‘open access’ choir – open to all, regardless of ability or previous singing experience, without audition. Songs are taught by ear and there is no need to be able to read music (although scores are available). Sound files are provided to support learning.
We sing an eclectic mix of musical styles – probably best described as World Folk. This includes music from the English-speaking world, Eastern Europe and Africa. We have also worked with, and commissioned, contemporary British composers.
We usually learn a programme of songs during the year which are then performed in concert, often in collaboration with other choirs or musical groups.
We meet approximately fortnightly on Sunday mornings (10:30 to 12:30) between September and June/July, usually at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth (it’s also possible to participate on Zoom). There is an interval to chat and make new friends.
If you’re interested in joining, come along to a rehearsal – your first session is free.
