Halesworth Community Choir is an ‘open access’ choir – open to all, regardless of ability or previous singing experience, without audition. Songs are taught by ear and there is no need to be able to read music (although scores are available). Sound files are provided to support learning.
We sing an eclectic mix of musical styles – probably best described as World Folk. This includes music from the English-speaking world, Eastern Europe and Africa. We have also worked with, and commissioned, contemporary British composers. We are currently learning a programme of songs that we will perform in concert at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth on 16th July 2022.
We meet on Sunday mornings (10:30 to 12:00) at The Cut (also via Zoom). This would normally include a break for refreshments and a chat, but in the current circumstances we are practising social distancing and wearing masks, so opportunities for socialising are reduced.
If you’re interested in joining, come along to a rehearsal – your first session is free.
