Halesworth Community Choir is an ‘open access’ choir – open to all, regardless of ability or previous singing experience, without audition. Songs are taught by ear and there is no need to be able to read music(although scores are available). Sound files are provided to support learning.
We sing an eclectic mix of musical styles – probably best described as World Folk. This includes music from the English-speaking world, Eastern Europe and Africa. We have also worked with, and commissioned, contemporary British composers.
Starting on Sunday 7th November, we will be learning a new programme of songs, which we hope to perform in concert in June or July 2022. We meet every other Sunday morning (10:30 to 12:30), usually at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth. This would normally include a break for refreshments etc. but in the current circumstances we are practising social distancing and wearing masks except when singing, so opportunities for socialising are reduced. We will reinstate the refreshment break as soon as people feel comfortable to chat.
If you’re interested in joining, come along to a rehearsal – your first session is free.
