Blaxhall village hall – Sunday 7th April
Suffolk author Robert Ashton’s latest book ‘Where are the Fellows who Cut the Hay‘ will be published by Unbound on 4th April, who describe it as part memoir, part social history, and a manifesto for why, against all odds, we need to step back in order to progress. It is the product of a 50 year fascination with work of oral historian George Ewart Evans, and so appropriately will launch on Sunday 7th April at the village hall in Blaxhall, the community where Evans researched and wrote the book for which he is best remembered, ‘Ask the Fellows who Cut the Hay’.
As well as hearing Robert in conversation about his new book, there will also be a chance to see two films, ‘A Writer’s Suffolk’, which was written and narrated by George Ewart Evans, and ‘Here’s a Health to the Barley Mow, which was made in 1955 and filmed at Blaxhall Ship.
Blaxhall church and parish council also hope to unveil a blue plaque that afternoon, marking Evans’ connection with the village.
You can support the campaign, book tickets for the films and pre-order a copy of Robert’s book here:
