Two Wenhaston artists, Ruth McCabe & Sally Erb, neighbours on Coles Hill, Wenhaston IP19 9DS, look forward to welcoming you to their winter sale.
Sally Erb: ‘My paintings aim to express the sensory experience of being in the landscape – a response to the changing light, colour and atmosphere in the natural world. It provides a visual stimulus which is interpreted in an emotional, intuitive and gestural manner.
My work is thoughtful and playful, painting is a reflection of experience. Mark making and colour are an essential part of the process, seeking to explore subtle colour combinations that intrigue the senses and reveal something unexpected.’
Ruth McCabe: ‘Ruth’s love of music, singing and dance, and more recently her participation in year round sea swimming are energies which can be identified in her artwork. The natural environment has always been an important source of joy, and her paintings and collages express her awareness of its beauty, and the pressures it is now increasingly subject to, created by human activity.
The thirty years Ruth worked as a psychotherapist taught Ruth to sit with uncertainty and trauma and wait to discover their place in our lives. Her body of work also offers a sense of these different forces.
She will have unframed work, unique miniature hand made cards and printed cards based on her wild swimming fund raising collage “A bit bouncy” which this summer raised almost £400 for Southwold RNLI lifeboat crew.
