THE LOST KEY- BOOK SIGNING BY ROSIE ANDERSEN
The Lost Key by Rosie Andersen
Aldeburgh-based author Rosie Andersen, who has a great interest in folklore, myths and legends and writes fables for all ages, will be signing copies of her books, including the most recent, The Lost Key. This new book is set in Anglo-Saxon Suffolk and is a tale of adventure and fortitude; about the complexities of human nature and our attempts to conquer our demons. With equal importance, it is also a story about friendship. The book is stunningly illustrated by Norfolk artist Paul Jackson. “A fable both ancient and absolutely apt for our current times. It immerses us in old English landscape, enriched by intriguing riddles and gloriously illustrated. An enticing read.” www.aelfwynbooks.com

THE BOOKSHOP (2017)
Echoes of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood whisper throughout this gentle film based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel about her time in Southwold. “If narrative action is important to you there is little to see here, but if you enjoy character portraits you will love this inconsequential tale told beautifully. Set in a sleepy 1959 seaside port, young widow Florence Green (Emily Mortimer) arrives determined to overcome her grief and open a small bookshop. The town has never had a bookshop and most of the villagers don’t like books anyway, except for the reclusive Mr Brundish (Bill Nighy) who reads everything he can. After pushing through a wall of petty officials the shop opens in a run-down cottage despite fierce opposition from the imperious Mrs Gamart (Patricia Clarkson). A flawlessly directed, slow-burning village drama of how books and ideas can change the world we live in.” CineMuseFilms
