Seagull Amateurs present… Guards, Guards!!

Fresh from their truimph with their evening of Victorian Music Hall, the fabulous Seagull Amateurs are back – this time with a fantasy favourite from Terry Pratchett.The infamous city of Ankh-Morpork is under threat from a 60-foot fire-breathing dragon, summoned by a secret society of malcontented tradesmen.
Defending Ank-Morpork against this threat is the entire, underpaid, undervalued City Night Watch – a drunken and world-weary Captain, a cowardly and overweight Sergeant, a small opportunistic Corporal of dubious parentage…and their newest recruit, Lance Constable Carrot, who is upright, literal, law-abiding and keen. Aiding them in their fight for truth, justice and the Ankh-Morporkian way are a small swamp dragon and the Librarian of Unseen University (who just happens to be an orang-utan).

Easterly Artists Pop-up exhibition
For 2024, we’re taking over the old “Bet Fred” building in the Triangle section of Lowestoft’s historic High Street and transforming it into an exciting contemporary art gallery. This year, our chosen theme is Connections, to tie in with the Heritage Open Days programme Routes, Networks & Connections.
Connections opens on Friday 6 September and runs till Sunday 15th, so there’s plenty of time to see what’s on show. We’re open every day 10am – 5pm, entry is free and there’s wheelchair access throughout. Look out for the Easterly Artists banners by the entrance.

The Marmen Quartet
Fressingfield Sounds are delighted to announce their inaugural concert, on Saturday 14 September, 7.30pm at Fressingfield Parish Church. The Marmen Quartet, an award-winning, internationally renowned group, will perform popular Haydn, Ravel and Beethoven string quartets.
With the courage, vitality and intensity of its performances, the Marmen Quartet is fast establishing itself as one of the most impressive and engaging talents in chamber music, demonstrated by recent first prizes at the prestigious Bordeaux and Banff International String Quartet Competitions.
